Summer in the Desert

summer desert, summer cookbook, summer fashion, summer style, desert, lookbookEvery morning I walk. I wake up around 4:30 A.M. and by 5 A.M., I’m out the door. A good majority of my route involves trips into the desert. The more time I spend out there, the more I grow to appreciate the dry, rugged landscape that I’ve called home for more than 20 years.

There are a lot of highs that come with being out of bed before the sun has completely risen. The temperature usually falls between 70 or 80 degrees.  Sometimes there’s a cool breeze that pushes you to walk longer. The sun is coming up rendering the sky a sight to behold — all blue, purple, pink, red, yellow and white in color and with the most interesting cloud formations. I like early mornings because they are slow and quiet.

I always “stop to smell the roses” or stop to take photos of the desert sky or landscape while walking. Below, I’ve put together a few simple, summer-friendly outfits inspired by photos I’ve snapped during my walks…
